Foundation: The Directors Cut is here!
1999 saw the disappearance of Sadeness software which almost took Foundation
off the shelf for good. I was busy making plans for new games and didn't
imagine that Foundation would be developed any further. I was ready to accept
the premature end of the games commercial life span as I looked for a brighter
future. This years World Of Amiga show saw a big change of direction. I met
up with Thomas Steiding (of Epic Marketing) to speak about the current Amiga
market and I told him about the end of Foundation development. After over
an hour of discussion we had come up with a plan. Foundation was to be
re-released together with almost 12 months of update work built in. There
was also to be a new game in the Foundation series called Foundation's Edge
which should be released close to the end of 1999. With the full backing of
Epic Marketing / Islona Entertainment Foundation was to make a big return.
For the first time in quite a while I started to feel enthusiastic about
Foundation once again! The rest of the 1999 World Amiga Show only served to
back up this fresh enthusiasm. I saw the possibility of a big Amiga revival
and I had decided that Foundation should be a part of it.
This has been a very special year for another reason; my first son - Jack - was
born on June 26th. I wish Jack all the best as we enter the 21st century. I hope
Jack learns to use a computer soon so I can have some help creating these games!
Thank you,
Paul Burkey
